Citizen Journalism and Internet
Citizen Journalism...oh boy...Can you imagine doing something that you thought wasn't embarrassing in public at that point of time
and unknowingly, someone took a picture of you and post it on STOMP or some other sites.
When you get online later at night, your friends send you the link and you thought it was another stupid random site....so you click on the link.
When the page finish loaded and you freak out and want to die...
and you can't do anything because you don't own the site and you can't delete it
And you feel wanting to kill that anonymous idiot for "paparazzi"-ing you...
After a while, you realized that you're a strong woman...or man and that you don't care what people say about you. You go, "Whatever."
It's a scary thing that people have the freedom to use the internet however way they want. Be it for business, photo sharing, video sharing and etc... they can also use it to embarrass people. There is no sense of privacy everywhere you go now. :(Most of the time, Citizen Journalism falls under the tabloid and it covers social activities/leisure. You can also see the lack of coverage of global politics and business. It is because not all everyday people have the qualification to be given the title of a "Journalist".
It's easier to post unflattering information or pictures of people without realizing the impact it has on the other party. :/ And as internet users, we ourselves have to be responsible for whatever posting we made.
